The story centers on Lucky (Rishi Kapoor), a mischievous yet warm-hearted boy who was accidentally separated from his mother as an infant. He is found and lovingly raised by two poor but hard-working truck drivers, Mangat (Prem Nath) and Bajirao (Pran), who sacrifice everything to build his future. As Lucky grows up, he falls deeply in love with Shanti (Neetu Singh), but her wealthy father (Madan Puri) completely rejects him due to his lack of family background. To prove himself, Lucky launches a small-scale matches company called "Apna Matches" with the ultimate support of his fathers and a kind fruit-seller named Vasudha (Mala Sinha)—unaware that Vasudha is actually his biological mother.
