NFL analyst calls Rams best team after adding former Texas A&M DE

· · 2 min read

Super Bowl LIII champion Jason McCourty called the Rams the best team in the NFL after adding the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett. The blockbuster trade between Los Angeles and Cleveland sent Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick in exchange for Garrett, who will compete for the Rams in his 10th year in the NFL.

According to McCourty, the moves Los Angeles made over the last few years, including the trade for Garrett, could be priming the Rams for another massive season of success.

Per NFL analyst Ian Rapoport, Garrett’s contract has been reworked. The change allows Los Angeles to move the vesting date of the former Aggie’s guarantees back a few months. He will make around $37 million in 2026, up from $31.5 million, after the Rams borrowed against a future year on his contract. The adjusted contract will also convert option bonuses to signing bonuses in certain cases.

Garrett is coming off one of the most impressive campaigns the league has ever seen from a player at the defensive end position. He totaled 23 sacks, which set the NFL’s single-season record, and 33 tackles for loss last season for the Cleveland Browns.

To go along with the addition of the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, the Rams have a stacked offense featuring reigning MVP Matthew Stafford and star wide receivers like Puka Nucua and Davante Adams. The recent moves by Los Angeles have sparked rumors of a potential Aaron Donald return, which would only increase the Rams’ odds of reaching the Super Bowl.
