Newcastle face competition from three English clubs for 19-year-old defender

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the Dinamo Zagreb defender Noa Mikic.

The 19-year-old has done well for the Croatian club and has attracted the attention of multiple English clubs. Brentford, Ipswich Town and Hull City are also monitoring his situation, according to Fussball News.

The 19-year-old is highly rated across Europe, and Newcastle would do well to secure his signature. Mikic can operate at right-back, and he could prove a solid long-term replacement for Tino Livramento. The Newcastle defender has been linked with top clubs in recent months. If he decides to move on, they will need to replace him properly. It would be ideal for them to start planning ahead.

Mikic has a contract with Zagreb until 2028, and the Croatian outfit is under no pressure to sell him in the short term. Newcastle will have to pay a premium in order to get the deal done.

The 19-year-old could be attracted to the idea of moving to England. It would be a huge step up for him, and he would get to play for a prestigious club like Newcastle. They could also offer him regular opportunities. It could help him improve further and fulfil his potential.

Newcastle are looking to build for the future, and it is no surprise that they are keen on Mikic. It remains to be seen whether they can get ahead of the competition and submit an official offer for the defender in the coming months.
