Netflix is taking major swings this year. The streamer is giving several of its movies a shot at an Oscar at next year’s Academy Awards by securing limited theatrical releases before the movies become available to stream. One of them is La Bora Negra, a Spanish epic directed by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo. The film is being positioned for nominations in Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, International Film, and Best Song. Reception has been largely positive, with critics giving it an 86% score and viewers rating it 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Another one is a WWII thriller directed by Peter Berg that is already in trouble.
