Nebraska football defensive back Andrew Marshall is a big fan of Huskers defensive coordinator Rob Aurich. He spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon, as Big Ten media days wrapped up.
Marshall has familiarity with origins dating back to his days in Idaho. Aldrich recruited Marshall out of high school, and Marshall played the 2023 season under Aldrich’s direction.
That 2023 campaign was successful for Marshall. He played in all 13 games and had 22 tackles and five pass breakups. Aurich left for San Diego State before the 2024 season.
Marshall praised Aurich during an interview with News Channel Nebraska and explained why he gave a ringing endorsement.
“I just know the type of guy he is… outside of football and then you add on to him inside of football. He’s a football fanatic. Like I’ll be at the facility and I’ll see him just late at night watching film… he loves the game, he loves to know everything about it. So I know the type of guy he is and I know what he can bring to this program, so why wouldn’t I [speak highly of him]?”

Marshall has played well for Nebraska in his own right. He started all 13 games last season and was named a Big Ten honorable mention. Marshall’s recommendations and defensive expertise undoubtedly carry some weight, and it will be fun to see him in Aurich’s defense once again.
