NCAA baseball tournament 2026: Tracking the Super Regional teams

Regional action in the 2026 NCAA baseball tournament is winding down, and by the time action on Sunday draws to a close, we could have most of the 16 spots in the Super Regionals locked in.

At least one regional will extend into Monday, due to the weather. Delays and postponements in the Tallahassee regional have pushed Game 6 of that bracket to Monday, and depending on how that game unfolds a double-header may be necessary to determine what team advances out of that bracket.

Whether we see more games on Monday depends on what happens on Sunday night in the various regional finals. Remember, the regionals are a double-elimination format.

Here, we’ll be tracking each team that advances to the Super Regionals.

Update (Monday morning): After Sunday, nine of the 16 spots in the Super Regionals have been booked. That leaves seven up for grabs during play today.

UNC became the first team to secure a spot in the Super Regionals, thanks to a 9-3 win over East Carolina at Boshamer Stadium, advancing in front of their hometown fans.

The Tar Heels were the No. 5 overall seed in the NCAA baseball tournament, and rolled through the Chapel Hill regional for their first regional sweep since 2019. UNC scored eight runs in the first three innings against the Pirates, loading the baes in each of those innings.

UNC won their first game on Friday 8-0 against VCU, and then won a pair of games against East Carolina to move on to the Super Regionals. The Tar Heels will host the winner of the College Station regional, either Texas A&M or Southern California, in the best-of-three Super Regionals starting on Friday, June 5.

The Bulldogs booked a spot of their own in the Super Regionals, with a 6-1 win over Liberty.

However, it came at a bit of a price.

Third baseman Tre Phelps blasted a two-run home run in the sixth inning, giving the Bulldogs their first lead of the game against the Flames. But Phelps, and then coach Wes Johnson, were tossed from the contest after the umpires ruled that Phelps taunted the Liberty dugout after the home run.

Phelps will be in line to miss Game 1 of next weekend’s Super Regional series. The Bulldogs will host either Mississippi State or Louisiana in that series.

Georgia began the NCAA tournament as the No. 3 overall seed.

Texas became the third team to book a spot in the Super Regionals, with a 6-4 win over UC Santa Barbara.

But it was a tense final inning at UFCU Disch–Falk Field, after what had been two comfortable games for the Longhorns.

Texas won its first two games of the Austin regional by a combined score of 35-2, with wins over Holy Cross and Tarleton State. But Sunday evening’s game against UC Santa Barbara was much closer than those two contests. The Gauchos loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth against the Longhorns, thanks to a pair of singles and a hit batter. That forced Texas to bring in Luke Harrison, who got the start on Friday against Holy Cross and went four innings, to try and get the final out. Harrison got outfielder Rowan Kelly to fly out, and the Longhorns could celebrate a spot in the Super Regional.

They’ll take on either Oregon or Oregon State in that Super Regional.

When the brackets were announced on Selection Monday, UCLA was placed in the Los Angeles regional as the top overall seed in the field.

Someone forgot to tell Cal Poly.

The Bruins lost their opener to Saint Mary’s, and were dropped into the elimination bracket, while Cal Poly rolled in the winner’s bracket thanks to victories over Virginia Tech and Saint Mary’s. And after Saint Mary’s sent UCLA home in extra innings on Sunday, the Mustangs booked their spot in the Super Regional with a win over Saint Mary’s on Sunday night.

The Trojans were put on the No. 4 line in the Hattiesburg regional, but Little Rock rolled to the Super Regional with three consecutive wins. The Trojans knocked off Southern Miss, the No. 1 seed in the region, 7-4 in its opening game, before booking their spot in the Supers with back-to-back wins over Jacksonville State.

Shortstop Jerdy Lopez went 3-for-5 in the regional final, with a pair of RBI, as Little Rock knocked off Jacksonville State 6-3 to advance. The Trojans will take on the winner of Monday’s game between Florida and Troy in the Super Regional.

While several No. 1 seeds struggled in their regional, or were eliminated outright, the Bulldogs quietly steamrolled their way to the Super Regional by putting ten runs or more on the board in each of their three games at home. Mississippi State handled Lipscomb 10-1 in their opener, then knocked off Cincinnati 10-5 on Saturday.

Then on Sunday the Bulldogs hung 19 runs on the board against Louisiana, clinching a spot in the Super Regionals with a 19-5 win.

For those keeping track, that is a 39-11 cumulative score in the regional.

The Bulldogs face a tougher road now, as they’ll head to Athens to take on Georgia in the Super Regional.

When the pairings were announced on Selection Monday, the Eugene regional looked as if it had been crafted for content. Former Pac-12 rivals Oregon, Washington State, and Oregon State were dropped into the bracket, along with Yale, perhaps giving No. 1 seed Oregon a tough path out of the regional.

Yet, the Ducks won all three of their games at home, clinching a spot in the Super Regional with Sunday night’s 4-1 win over Oregon State. Oregon beat each team in their regional, starting with a 14-2 win over Yale and then shutting out Washington State 4-0 on Saturday.

The Ducks will now travel to Texas to take on the Longhorns in the Super Regional.

The Crimson Tide are moving on.

Alabama booked a spot in the Super Regional on Sunday night, knocking off Oklahoma State by a final score of 9-7. After throttling Alabama State 21-3 in its opener, Alabama won a pair of two- run games to advance, first defeating USC Upstate 7-5 and then knocking off the Cowboys on Sunday night.

They will be home for the Super Regionals, as they await the winner of the Tallahassee regional, either Florida State or St. John’s.

Despite what many expected, the Jayhawks are moving on the Super Regionals for the first time in program history.

Kansas entered the regionals as the No. 1 seed in their bracket, but many experts tapped No. 2 seed Arkansas to advance out of Lawrence. Yet the Jayhawks won all three games at home, knocking off Northeastern in their opener and then beating the Razorbacks twice, proving all those doubters wrong.

It’s me, I’m the doubter.

The road does get tougher next weekend, as the Jayhawks head to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech and the Yellow Jackets’ prolific offense in the Super Regionals.
