Must-see high school sports showdowns in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac for Sept. 14-19

The high school sports season has reached the midpoint of September.

This story provides a look ahead at the week of Sept. 14 – Sept. 19 with games and meets to watch across boys and girls volleyball and cross country for Oshkosh, Fond du Lac schools.

As the season progresses, this story will also provide a look at notable accomplishments, how conference races are shaking out and anything newsworthy that happens across the non-football fall sports.

Conference play is underway and Fond du Lac hosts Kimberly in a Fox Valley Association matchup. Both sides are battling for position near the top of the conference and the game offers a test for both sides.

Central Wisconsin Christian at Lourdes Academy, girls volleyball, 7:15 p.m.

This matchup offers a look at Central Wisconsin Christian who’s at the top of the Trailways – East conference. Lourdes Academy enters the week having won three of its last four games.

Oshkosh West starts the week at 10-5 and has won seven straight. Neenah sits at 9-3 and it on a four-game winning streak.

The Ripon Invitational has 10 schools competing with Lomira, Mayville, Ripon, Valley Christian and Waupun from the Oshkosh, Fond du Lac area.

Oakfield’s Lydia Flury hit 500 career kills. She has 89 kills on the season for an Oakfield team that starts the week with a 9-4 record.

Mayville’s Lilian Mansueto hit the 1,000 career digs mark. She’s up to 189 digs this season for a Mayville team that’s 10-2.

At the Nightfall Classic 920 – Neenah cross country meet, Fond du Lac had 22 of its 38 runners hit new personal records. Aidan McAdams, who’s in his first season of running high school cross country finished eight with a time of 16:28.4. On the girls side, Aleah Sievert finished 24th with a time of 20:39.
