MSU women's basketball crushes Valparaiso to open season
Despite starting the season outside the Top-25, Michigan State women’s basketball is entering this season with some hype. The Spartans have become a consistent force ever since the hiring of head coach Robyn Fralick back in 2023, and this year should be no different. While it will always be tough to contend for a Big Ten title against teams like UCLA and USC, MSU should be in the conversation this year, and we saw why on Tuesday night, as the Spartans decimated Valparaiso to the tune of 98-44 at home.
This is a new-look group this season, as star player Grace VanSlooten is now with the Indiana Fever. While some familiar names like Theryn Hallock and Kennedy Blair are expected to take starring roles (both players finished with 12 points), new names like Tabitha Betson and Kathy-Emma Otto have joined them in the starting lineup. However, it was returning sophomore Amy Terrian who stole the show for the Spartans, nailing 5-of-6 threes for a 15-point barrage against the Beacons.
Like their male counterparts, the Spartans will face Toledo next, but they will play on the road on Saturday before heading back to East Lansing to host Oakland next week Wednesday.
