Kieron Pollard beats Chris Gayle’s T20 record in MLC 2026 clash
On Sunday morning, MI New York locked horns against Washington Freedom in the fifth match of the Major League Cricket 2026 season.
West Indies and Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard was in action for MI New York and he scored a brilliant century as his team scored 215 runs in the game.
While MI New York fell short of their target by 30 runs, Pollard’s innings turned out to be a historic knock, as with his century, Pollard surpassed compatriot Chris Gayle to become the highest run scorer in the history of T20 cricket.
In a career that has spanned 20 years, Pollard has played a whopping 736 matches for various franchise teams and the West Indies national team. He now has 14582 runs in T20 cricket, surpassing Gayle’s total of 14562.
Only two Indians, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, feature in the top 10 list of highest run scorers in the shortest format.
