Most Likely James Bond And Bond Girl Unveiled In New Report

James Bond was first created in 1953 by former Naval Intelligence officer and British author Ian Fleming and is a blend of wartime colleagues and real secret agents. The character was first introduced in the novel Casino Royale, and was then shown in 12 other novels and two short story collections before the author died in 1964. Since the creation, the character has been reintroduced many times on screen with new faces, and now the battle for the next Bond is on.

A report by Oddschecker, a British betting-odds comparison platform, has crunched the numbers on the favorite James Bond and Bond girl choices ahead of Amazon MGM Studios’ expected announcement. Slow Horses star Jack Lowden is leading the charge with a 62% chance of taking the role, ahead of Callum Turner with just a 25% chance. BetOnline has also weighed in, with The Substance star Margaret Qualley leading the charge at 33% to land the role of the new Bond girl.

Lowden is leading the charge on the odds for James Bond, with Richard Madden at 11%, Jacob Elordi at 7%, and Jack O’Connell at 8%. Qualley is followed by Sydney Sweeney at 25%, tied with Anya Taylor-Joy at 25%. Florence Pugh is placed at 17%, Zendaya at 13%, Lauren Sánchez at 5%, and Kate Winslet at 4%. Stars such as Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson are also in the running at around 3% odds.

ScreenRant ran a poll for the impossible decision on who should be cast as Bond. 41.4% of readers selected Lowden to take the spot as James Bond, with Turner following at 12.8%, Josh O’Connor at 9.8%, and 36.1% wanting none of the above. Amazon MGM Studios is nearing the end of its search as a new report suggests that test screenings are being held today (October 23) and over the next few days to finally pick their 007. The report states it’s now down to just Lowden, Turner, and O’Connor, as well as a fourth mystery entry.

Lowden currently stars in Apple TV’s Slow Horses as a rejected MI5 agent named River Cartwright. The actor is widely celebrated for his portrayal, including by co-star Gary Oldman, who gave his endorsement of Lowden for Bond. Oldman shared that he had his “fingers crossed” for his co-star, hoping he lands the role in the movie set to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.

At the time of writing, it had not been made clear when the official announcement would be made, but the hunt for James Bond is officially nearing an end. Perhaps, Qualley will also be picked for Bond girl, making the upcoming adaptation a worthy successor to Daniel Craig’s stint as the beloved secret agent.
