Mike Evans scores first TD as a 49er, 109th of his career

Mike Evans scored 108 touchdowns for the Buccaneers. He just scored his first for the 49ers.

The wide receiver caught a 2-yard score from Brock Purdy on the 49ers’ first drive of the second half. It pushed the 49ers’ lead to 17-7 with 11:03 remaining in the third quarter.

On third-and-goal, Evans snatched the ball away from cornerback Jaylen Watson.

He has six catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, with five receptions coming on third down.

The seven-play, 51-yard touchdown drive was set up by Deebo Samuel‘s 45-yard kickoff return.

Purdy is now 20-of-28 for 157 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The 49ers have ruled out tight end Jake Tonges, who injured his knee late in the first half. They had already ruled out rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling, with a left ankle injury.
