Dallas Goedert expects to play against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night after tweaking an existing knee injury during the Eagles‘ preparations.
Goedert provided that assessment Saturday, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane. He returned for Philadelphia’s final practice after being listed as a nonparticipant Thursday and Friday.
What is Dallas Goedert’s injury?
Goedert said he tweaked an existing knee injury. His return to practice and expectation of playing are encouraging, though neither indicates how much he can contribute Monday.
Why does Goedert’s availability matter?
Philadelphia is also managing injuries to DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, who remained absent from the portion of Saturday’s practice open to reporters.
Goedert has 17 receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns through four appearances this season. He caught six passes for 61 yards against Carolina last week, giving Tanner McKee a productive target in the Eagles’ 25-14 loss.
His availability would give Philadelphia an experienced receiving option as the offense attempts to sustain drives and end a four-game losing streak.
When will his availability be confirmed?
Goedert’s expected playing time should be weighed against his official designation on Saturday’s final injury report. Monday’s inactive list, released approximately 90 minutes before kickoff, will confirm whether he is available to dress.
