Middlesbrough have announced the signing of United States international Sebastian Berhalter from the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Berhalter has signed a four-year contract with the Championship side following a reported £1.5m ($2m) move from the Whitecaps.
The 25-year-old made 167 appearances for Vancouver after joining from the Columbus Crew in 2022, scoring 20 goals and providing 34 assists.
Berhalter also featured for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at the 2026 World Cup, scoring and assisting in their group-stage defeat to Turkiye.
Boro, meanwhile, missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season after losing in the Championship play-off final to Hull City.

“I’ve been watching the club closely over the last two years because of Aidan, and I kind of fell in love with the club, especially over the last year with the way they play and the way they fight.
“This is where I want to be. I want to keep getting better as a player and person, and this is a great place to do it.
“The World Cup was an incredible experience.
“It’s given me even more hunger now, and this is an amazing place for me to be.”
The midfielder could make his competitive debut for Boro in the EFL Cup against Wrexham on August 7.
Boro start their Championship campaign eight days later against Lincoln City at home.
