Micah Parsons will miss his team’s season opener while recovering from an ACL injury. His absence will be a notable storyline heading into the matchup.
Nevertheless, quarterback Jordan Love remains confident in the Green Bay Packers‘ offense heading into the season opener. The quarterback believes the team can stick to its plan and adjust when needed during the game.
Micah Parsons has been placed on the PUP list as he continues to recover from his ACL injury, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the 2026 season. The star pass-rusher’s absence is a significant blow to the Packers’ defense heading into the year.

Green Bay Packers quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor (6), Jordan Love (10), Kyron Drones (13) and Kyle McCord (18) participate in mandatory minicamp Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Don Hutson Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Jordan Love appeared in 15 regular-season games last season and threw for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. He finished with a 101.2 passer rating. Parsons, meanwhile, played 14 games and recorded 41 combined tackles, 12.5 sacks and two forced fumbles before suffering the injury that sidelined him for the opener.
Still, Love does not think Parsons’ absence should change the offense’s approach.
“I think always the goal of the offense is to put up as many points as you can,” Love said. “I think that’s our goal, no matter who’s out there on defense, with Micah, without Micah. I want to go out there and be the best offense we can be; I want to put up a touchdown every time we touch the field.”
Love also expects the Vikings to show different defensive looks during the game. He said the Packers need to stay ready and respond to whatever Minnesota brings. “Whatever they hit us with from a defensive perspective, just being ready and obviously having in-game adjustments,” he added.
While the Packers will have to adjust to Parsons’ absence, Love said his focus remains on executing the offense.
The Packers will need several key players to step up as they prepare to face the Vikings.
Edgerrin Cooper will be important on defense after recording 118 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles last season. Xavier McKinney remains one of Green Bay’s top defensive backs after recording 107 tackles, 2 interceptions and 10 passes defended last season.
On offense, Christian Watson had 611 receiving yards and six touchdowns last season. His speed continues to make him a key deep threat in the Packers’ offense.
Jayden Reed had 19 receptions for 207 receiving yards and one touchdown last season. His quickness and ability to make plays after the catch remain valuable for the Packers’ offense.
Lukas Van Ness, Matthew Golden, Tucker Kraft, Zach Tom and Barryn Sorrell will also be expected to contribute against Minnesota.
The Packers will rely on contributions from several players as they prepare for the season opener.
