Max Allegri is the first manager whose team faces Arsenal in the Champions League this season, and he has done his homework on the Gunners as he prepares Napoli for the game.
Napoli are one of the biggest teams in Italian football, and they will be expected to make their country proud, although that will not be easy against Arsenal. The Gunners reached the Champions League final last season after dominating the league phase, before eventually losing to PSG.
Arsenal have a superb team and have done extremely well to establish themselves as one of the strongest clubs in European football. Napoli therefore know they face a difficult challenge, particularly against a side that has already shown its ability to compete at the highest level.
The Partenopei have also been performing well in Serie A in recent seasons, while Allegri is the latest top manager to take charge of them. However, he recognises that Arsenal are a significantly stronger team and believes the Gunners will make life difficult for his players.
Ahead of the game, Allegri revealed what he believes makes Arsenal stand out. He highlighted their defensive organisation, their ability to work collectively and the fact that they concede very few goals.
He also praised Mikel Arteta for the work he has done during his time in charge of the Gunners. Allegri believes Arsenal’s defensive improvement has played an important role in making them such a difficult team to face in the Champions League.

‘Tomorrow is a different competition from Serie A, a sort of mini league, where we need 12 points to secure qualification for the next round.
‘Arsenal are the Champions League finalists and won the Premier League, Mikel Arteta has done an extraordinary job in the last four years.
‘He did well to sort out their defence, as Arsenal concede very few goals, and they work together as a team. It’s their greatest strength.
‘We know the difficulties of this match, which we must go into with pride and the desire to do well.’
Allegri’s assessment underlines the size of the challenge facing Napoli, with the Gunners arriving with a strong reputation. Arsenal will now look to demonstrate their quality on the European stage once again and begin their Champions League campaign with a positive result.
