Half the fun of a Marvel ensemble, crossover, or team-up is seeing iconic characters interact with one another, especially if the specific context of them meeting and conversing with each other involves some sort of conflict or clash of ideologies. In Marvel Comics’ Marvel Zombies: War Zone, the other half is concerned with who’s been zombified and who’s still struggling to survive while battling an undead horde of former Hand ninjas, led by Tomi Shishido’s Gorgon. Without allies or the element of surprise, Frank Castle’s Punisher is barely treading water.
This five-issue miniseries effectively terraforms the island of Manhattan into its titular war zone, encased in an impenetrable force-field bubble. In Harlem, Punisher, Luke Cage’s Power Man, and Danny Rand’s Iron Fist fought the zombified Heroes—or “Horrors”—for Hire: Zombie Colleen Wing and Zombie Misty Knight. Now, as they make their way to Hell’s Kitchen, Punisher and Luke Cage have a far more terrifying and devilish dynamic duo awaiting them: Zombie Daredevil and Zombie Bullseye.
Daredevil And Bullseye Are The Zombie Devils Of Hell’s Kitchen
As enemies, Daredevil and Bullseye are a pairing as iconic as peanut butter and raspberry jam. But as allies, they’re as unpalatable as Brussels sprouts and cherry tomatoes. That is, unless they share a kinship as zombie slaves of Gorgon who bleed green blood.
It’s neat to see who does or doesn’t end up being bitten and becoming a zombie in Marvel Zombies: War Zone. And, in the last page of issue , it’s revealed that both Daredevil and Bullseye are already zombified. In fact, readers saw Daredevil, the man who is allegedly without fear, looking quite petrified when a Hunger zombie lunged at him in the second page of the limited series’ first issue, and it’s possible that this was moments before he was bitten and turned.
Unlike many of the other Hunger zombies thus far, though, Zombie Daredevil and Zombie Bullseye are remarkably haunting as they lie in wait in the shadows and grin gleefully in anticipation with glowing green eyes. Gorgon has endearingly assigned archetypal names to each of the classic Marvel Comics characters who are now his slaves/soldiers; for example, Colleen was the Samurai, and Misty was the Knight. Fittingly, Daredevil and Bullseye are the Devil and the Assassin, respectively.
War Zone Is A Buffet Of Marvel Zombie Characters
Marvel Zombies: War Zone is only five issues long. Therefore, it must feel an obligation to escalate stakes at an alarming rate, seeing as it doesn’t have a ton of real estate or legroom with which to tell an elaborate story. Instead, what it’s brilliantly chosen to do is emphasize action, and every subsequent issue features a more horrific antagonist for Punisher to fight.
It’ll be fascinating to see how Zombie Daredevil and Zombie Bullseye coordinate their attacks, and it seems as if another Marvel character who is intimately associated with both of them will arrive in order to rescue Punisher and Luke. The solicitation for Marvel Zombies: War Zone reads as follows:
HELL’S KITCHEN IS EMPTY, AND ALL THE DEVILS ARE COMING FOR PUNISHER’S HEAD!
As it becomes clear that there’s more to this zombie epidemic than meets the eye, PUNISHER must descend into the bowels of HELL’S KITCHEN to uncover answers! But danger lurks behind every corner as the unholy alliance between a zombified DAREDEVIL and BULLSEYE terrorizes the streets.

But Marvel Zombies: War Zone‘s zombified antagonists won’t all be relatively street-level for long. Before Punisher possibly wields Mjolnir and goes toe-to-toe with Zombie Thor, for instance, he’ll have to somehow survive against Zombie Spider-Man and Zombie Moon Knight in issue .
Marvel Zombies: War Zone is scheduled to be released on November 25, 2026.
