After the hour long break, we’re back for more.
This is a fun pick. One of the better relief options in a loaded Beaver bullpen, Wyatt Queen, who transferred from Everett CC a couple of years ago, is a right handed reliever with some massive stuff on his breaking balls. Queen’s mid-80’s gyro slider was one of the best in college baseball these past few years and generates massive whiff rates. His curveball is also really compelling, featuring tight downward spike on the offering. His breakers were the primary reason he struck out 78 batters in just 46 innings this season, and with just 18 walks, his control is better than one might expect for a college reliever. His fastball is in the low 90’s and has touched 96, and there is a changeup that will need some work, but scouts have speculated whether Queen should get a shot at starting in the minor leagues, and there’s a chance the M’s could give him a shot to prove his role early in his career. Should he stick to the ‘pen, however, Queen should be a very compelling piece with strong performance to back it up.
