Manchester United want Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow

· · 1 min read

Manchester United are plotting a summer transfer move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to The Athletic. Man United want an experienced backup goalie at Old Trafford next season and Darlow is set to be a free agent at the end of this month. The 35-year-old Wales international is expected to leave the Elland Road club, but Leeds want to keep him and are expected to offer him a new deal. A move to a club playing in the Champions League could appeal to Darlow, but more suitors are likely to join Man United in his pursuit.

Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana are expected to leave the Red Devils this summer, and the club want Darlow to provide quality cover and competition for Senne Lammens. The Leeds star, who was once dubbed ‘a great goalkeeper’ by Eden Hazard, could fancy his chances of becoming Man United’s first-choice. He dislodged Lucas Perri to make 22 Premier League appearances in 2025-26 and was one of the best in his position last term. The Red Devils also have Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Sam Johnstone as an option and have discussed about signing the 33-year-old. The former England international came through Man United’s academy and would count towards their homegrown quota like Darlow.
