Manchester United have reignited their interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
Suffering an infamous collapse at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as they watched their EFL Cup adventure come to an end following a 3-2 defeat against Brighton, Michael Carrick’s men have shown a string of issues since opening up the 2026/27 campaign.
Getting proceedings underway with a remarkable 2-0 defeat against Premier League newcomers Hull City on August 22nd, United have come under plenty of recent scrutiny.
Falling to a 1-0 loss in the Manchester derby last weekend, United have also gained an unwanted reputation for their defensive issues.
With the Old Trafford fanbase making their frustrations clear that the United hierarchy failed to add a new central defender during the summer transfer window, Carrick’s side will be desperate to resolve that issue when the window reopens in January.
Already putting together their January plans, TEAMtalk’s report suggests that United have once again contacted Everton over what would be a blockbuster move for Branthwwaite.
United have held a long-standing interest in the England international and are reportedly keen on progressing with a deal for the £80million-rated defender.
However, while the 24-year-old might have been forced to deal with some major injury setbacks during the early stages of his career, it has also been suggested that European giants such as Manchester City and Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on proceedings.
