Manchester United Identify This Brighton Midfielder As A Target: Should Carrick Move In For Him?

In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned that Manchester United have identified Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba as a target. It has been claimed that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Cameroonian talent later this year.

Baleba’s Solid Campaign In The Premier League

Baleba enjoyed a decent run of form at Brighton as he produced a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 22-year-old made 35 appearances for the Seagulls last season in various competitions.

The Cameroonian talent is currently one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, the Red Devils would do well to snap him up this off-season.

His current contract at the American Express Community Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Man United to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Move In For Baleba?

Baleba is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good passer as well.

The Cameroonian talent is full of energy and running at the centre of the park, but needs to add some goals and assists to his game. Baleba is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Old Trafford.

We can expect Baleba to bring more bite and steel to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting role at the Theatre of Dreams in the coming seasons.

At 22, Baleba has got a bright future ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Man United’s needs this summer. Therefore, the Red Devils should focus on moving in for him before the end of this transfer window.
