Mahomes, Kelce accomplish NFL-first in Chiefs' Week 2 win vs. Colts

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and legendary tight end Travis Kelce helped the Kansas City Chiefs accomplish an NFL-first feat against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

According to the experts at OptaSTATS, the Chiefs are the first team in NFL history to have a 30+ year old quarterback (Mahomes) and 35+ year old tight end (Kelce) combine for 300 or more passing yards and 100 or more receiving yards in the same game — an impressive accomplishment which shouldn’t go overlooked.

Mahomes completed 32 of his 47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns against the Colts, while Kelce hauled in nine receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown in the primetime showdown at Arrowhead Stadium on ‘Sunday Night Football’:

Kansas City ultimately earned its second win of the 2026 NFL regular season over Indianapolis, cementing the Chiefs’ early role as a team to beat in the AFC.
