Lyon reject Roma’s initial bid for Malick Fofana

Roma continues their pursuit of a left winger.

The first name on Tony D’Amico’s list is Antonio Nusa, while Malick Fofana remains an option.

The Belgian is the club’s plan B in case the Norwegian talent struggles, but there are some details holding them back. Lyon’s asking price for the 2005-born player is around €45 million.

This is an affordable figure compared to the €60 million expected from Leipzig.

However, the fitness of Paulo Fonseca’s player is causing considerable concern in Trigoria. His last start was on October 26, 2019, due to an ankle injury.

On August 4th, Fofana played 15 minutes against Sparta Prague in the Champions League, and Roma will also be watching him in France for the return leg. Unsure of anything, the Roman club—as reported in Il Corriere della Sera—presented a loan offer with a conditional obligation to the French club, but the offer was promptly declined.

Roma and Gasperini are reportedly aiming to fill the left-wing gap with a ready-made player. D’Amico is also pursuing other options, but it’s not out of the question that the Roman club could surprise with a previously undisclosed name.
