LSU football LB Whit Weeks talks playing alongside TJ Dottery

LSU football boasts one of the most experienced linebacker duos in the country with Whit Weeks and TJ Dottery. Weeks, who will finish out a four-year career with the Tigers in the fall, talked about playing beside Dottery during SEC media day.

“I love playing beside TJ,” Weeks said. “Me being hurt during the spring, I kind of got to sit back and watch him and learn how he plays and pick his brain and see the football he plays.”

Weeks suffered an injury midseason that held him out half of 2025. He returns to LSU as a projected first-round pick in the NFL Draft and pivotal leader for a rebuilding team. Head coach Lane Kiffin brought several key pieces with him from Ole Miss and Dottery was among the most crucial.

Dottery owns 1,709 career snaps, beginning his career at Clemson before spending the last three seasons at Ole Miss under Kiffin. He brings two years of starting experience to Baton Rouge and already made an impression on his new teammate.

“He brings energy every single snap and that’s a guy who I want to play with,” Weeks said. “We’ve gotten real close off the field as well, so it’s fun just having good people around you.”
