Wilfried Nancy has not been in work since leaving Celtic back in January, however, the Frenchman could be offered a route back into management in Ligue 1, as per a report from Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
Nancy has never hidden his desire to return to Ligue 1 and recently reiterated that objective during an interview with RMC Sport.“It8217;s true that, in the past three years, there’s been no reason to complain because French clubs wanted to work with me. It is a question of timing, and the timing wasn’t right at the time. Now, I want to come to Ligue 1, if there is an opportunity. I am not the one who decides, but I am ready,” he revealed last month.
An opportunity may now have arisen. FC Lorient are in the market for a new manager. Olivier Pantaloni excelled in the role, leading the club back into the top-flight at the first time of asking before securing a midtable finish. However, citing a perceived lack of trust from the Breton club’s hierarchy, he opted against extending his deal. He has therefore left upon the expiry of his contract.
Former Southampton manager Will Still emerged as the early frontrunner to replace Pantaloni at the Moustoir, but he looks set to replace Christophe Pélissier at AJ Auxerre. Toubache-Ter understands that Nancy has now emerged as a target for Les Merlus’ owners, BKFC.
