Marc Cucurella bade an emotional farewell to Chelsea over a month after leaving to join Real Madrid, saying “London will always be my home”.
The Spaniard completed a reported €55m (£47.5m) move to Los Blancos during the early stages of the World Cup on a six-year deal.
Cucurella, who was part of Spain’s World Cup-winning side, joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022, going on to make 163 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.
He scored nine goals and provided 11 assists during that time and also helped them to lift the Conference League and Club World Cup in 2025.
In a video released on social media, Cucurella said: “Hi Blues, after four seasons together, it’s time to say goodbye. I have had some time to reflect and remember what we have lived together.
“I arrived here as a young lad with the dream of winning many trophies and playing in the Champions League. We had a tough start, it’s true, but with hard work and effort we were able to turn it around.

“Thanks to this club and its high expectations today, I can honestly say that London will always be my home, and you will always be part of my story.
“I won’t forget listening to my song at the stadium, the magical nights at the Bridge, the titles that I’ve won carrying this badge and all the love that you showed me. I now leave the club being a man. I’ve reached a lot of my dreams thanks to you, and I want to thank you all for that.
“To the coaches and staff for all the advice that you gave me, to my team-mates, for all that we have lived together, and I won’t forget.”
Cucurella made 50 appearances for the Blues in 2025-26 (after the Club World Cup), the joint-third most among Chelsea players.
He made (85) and won (59) the second-most tackles in the team, with only Moises Caicedo (67/128) bettering his totals.
