Liverpool spotted scouting their next Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak finally seems to be coming into his own at Liverpool after a year of being at the club.

The Sweden international was expected to completely transform the way that the Reds played with the idea being for him to take over as the Reds’ main goal contributor.

However, things didn’t really work out that way last season with injuries plaguing his campaign.

This meant that Mohamed Salah had to step up again and, even though he was nowhere near his best, he still contributed to 22 goals across all competitions.

But, since the Egyptian King has now left Anfield for good, other players are going to have to step up and, fortunately for Liverpool, their club-record signing has managed to do just that.

However, with how much they’ve already prepared their squad for the future, it’s hardly surprising to find out that the Anfield outfit are already looking for their next generation of players.

Now that Bradley Barcola has joined Liverpool, it’s fair to say that, on paper, the Reds have one of the best attacking line-ups in the world.

Obviously, compared to some clubs such as Manchester City and Real Madrid, they’re still not as good but, when comparing to last season, they look a lot better off now than they did when Arne Slot was at the helm.

However, despite all of these players being likely to lockdown their starting roles in the Reds’ line-ups for the next few years, there’s no harm in them trying to figure out who their successors are going to be.

Some such as Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns probably have a decent chance at it with Iraola in charge but, as per a fresh update from Caught Offside, Liverpool have been seen scouting one of Sweden’s brightest young strikers ahead of a potential move.

“Arsenal are monitoring AIK teenager Kevin Filling as a potential ‘project signing’, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus also keeping close tabs on one of Sweden’s most exciting young attackers,” they wrote.

“Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus have recently been spotted at AIK matches in Stockholm to watch Filling.

“Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to see the 2008-born attacker primarily as a project signing, a player who could be recruited early, developed carefully and potentially become part of the first-team picture over the next few seasons.

“Liverpool and Juventus are also interested, with both clubs reportedly viewing him as someone capable of eventually making the step between academy football and senior competition.

“Sources suggest a future package could reach €20m-€25m, potentially including bonuses, a sell-on clause and even a loan back to AIK.”

Obviously, with Filling only being 17 years old, it puts a lot of pressure on his shoulders when he’s called the next Isak.

However, the fact that he’s been playing senior football with AIK for the last couple of years proves how good he actually is.

During that time, the striker has featured in 34 games across all competitions and, while he’s only contributed to 11 goals, at 17 years old, that’s a fairly respectable return.

Even though Filling’s natural position is as a number nine, he’s also been used on both wings and as a right-midfielder during his short career.

Obviously, his €20 million fee seems rather steep since he’s only 17 years old but, since 18-year-old Zadok Yohanna was just bought by Brighton from AIK for £21.5 million, they have no reason to sell their homegrown star on the cheap.

It’s clear that the Allsvenskan is finally being treated as a place for the next generation of footballers to make their mark and, if Filling continues on this upward trajectory, there’s no reason why the €20 million + fee isn’t going to be justified.

But, whether any club will want to risk that sort of money on a youngster remains to be seen.
