Liverpool FC are reported to have made a last-ditch attempt in recent hours to sign Chelsea FC’s Malo Gusto (23), according to information from RMC Sport.
However, their efforts proved fruitless, as the Reds were hoping to secure the Frenchman’s signature on a loan deal without a mandatory buy-out clause, whilst their London counterparts were only willing to consider a permanent transfer.
These plans were quickly ruled out by Liverpool’s management, who were unable to meet the financial demands set by the Blues for the 23-year-old.
Under contract with Chelsea until 2030, Gusto is therefore set to continue his spell there in the coming months, having established himself as a key member of the London club’s squad – scoring three goals and providing 18 assists in 137 matches across all competitions.
Having started in the first three matches managed by Xabi Alonso this season, the French international – who has 16 caps – provided one assist.
