Liverpool is interested in Pierre Kalulu, but Juventus wants to retain the defender and is pursuing a new contract, according to Football Insider.
Pete O’Rourke reports that the 26-year-old has also attracted attention from Manchester United, adding another Premier League club to the list of potential suitors. Juventus is reluctant to sanction his departure.
Liverpool’s interest is linked to concerns at right-back. Kalulu generally plays in central defense, but his experience at right-back and wing-back would give the club an option across several roles if it decides to pursue a January move.
The contract discussions follow earlier reports that Juventus had opened renewal talks with Kalulu. His existing agreement with Juventus runs until June 30, 2029, leaving the Italian club with almost three seasons of protection before any extension. The September report also named Francisco Conceicao and Nicolas Gonzalez among the players Juventus wanted to tie to new agreements.
Juventus confirmed that expiry date when it made his move from AC Milan permanent in June 2025. Kalulu had spent the previous season on loan in Turin, making 39 appearances and scoring against Atalanta before the purchase option was exercised.
He has since reached another milestone. Juventus recorded his 100th senior appearance for the club during the 2-1 Europa League victory over Celta Vigo on October 15, a measure of how regularly he has featured since arriving from Milan.
That total includes 72 Serie A appearances and 18 in the Champions League, alongside games in the Europa League, Club World Cup and domestic cup competitions. His experience extends well beyond the positional flexibility that has drawn Liverpool’s attention.
Juventus’ reported preference is to strengthen its agreement with Kalulu. Liverpool would need to change that position before a January transfer could progress, with Manchester United’s interest adding competition for the defender.
