Liverpool have made an enquiry about the prospect of signing 17-year-old Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora from Club Tijuana.

Mora made four appearances for co-hosts Mexico at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer and was the youngest player called up to the tournament.

It continued a rapid rise for the teen, who has already won 12 senior caps, and holds the record as the youngest player to score in the Mexican top flight at 15 years and 320 days old.

He also hold the record as the youngest player ever to win a senior international tournament, after helping Mexico to Gold Cup success in 2025.

According to El Universal, Liverpool have made an approach to sign Mora, while Arsenal are reportedly ready to rival that interest. Club Tijuana have rejected previous approaches from clubs in Europe, MLS and Brazil for Mora, who is regarded as Mexico’s most exciting prospect.

Real Madrid are also long-term admirers for the technical midfielder, though interested clubs will need to wait until October before any deal can be finalised. Under FIFA regulations, Mora cannot join a foreign senior team until he turns 18.
