Leeds defender Wober has contract terminated by mutual consent

Leeds United have confirmed defender Max Wober has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

Wober joined Leeds – who were then under the management of Jesse Marsch – from the American’s former club Salzburg in January 2023.

He made 19 appearances throughout his first half-season at the club, though he was then loaned to Borussia Monchengladbach following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

He only played a minor role as Daniel Farke led Leeds to the Championship title in 2024-25, before having another loan stint in Germany, with Werder Bremen, in 2025-26 as his parent club finished 14th in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old is the fifth player to leave Leeds this summer, after goalkeepers Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier, right-back Isaac Schmidt and centre-back Pascal Struijk. 

In terms of incomings, Farke’s side have brought in Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham, while Tarik Muharemovic arrived from Sassuolo in a €40m (£34m) deal.
