“What we appeal to the government is for them to do what they are supposed to do and to do it well; we need better roads and electricity. The Minister of Education has been proactive in doing what ought to have been done a long time ago, for instance, the curriculum review,” he said.
On digital education, Iwerebon said Learn Africa planned to intensify its investments and activities in the digital learning space.
He said the company had been working in digital education for about eight years and had submitted a project to the Universal Basic Education Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education for review.
“We plan to intensify. We started eight years ago, and we have a project that has been submitted to UBEC and the Federal Ministry of Education for review. Our digital product, Learn Africa Online App, is available for Android and iOS devices,” he said.
Company Moves to Tackle Book Piracy
On the challenge of book piracy, the Chief Executive Officer of Learn Africa Plc, Alhaji Hassan Bala, said the company was collaborating with security agencies to address the problem.
“Piracy is an ongoing thing; we are collaborating with security agencies, discussing and looking for new ways and tactics of tracking pirated works,” Bala said.
He said the company would continue to explore measures to protect its intellectual property and educational materials from unauthorised reproduction and distribution.
Learn Africa Expands Market Reach
The Deputy Director, Marketing and Sales, Christopher Kikanme, said the company’s revenue growth was supported by efforts to expand its market reach and strengthen its presence in the digital space.
“What we did differently was expanding our terrain switched into the social media space with our already built digital space,” Kikanme said.
He disclosed that the company had expanded its operations into the Republic of Benin and was working towards extending its market presence to other West African countries.
The company’s expansion strategy, he said, would complement its traditional publishing business while allowing it to reach a wider audience through emerging digital platforms.
