Lagos State University, LASU, has resolved the controversy surrounding the alleged delay in uploading the results of some graduating students in the Department of English, assuring qualified students that they will graduate alongside their colleagues.

The university gave the assurance in a statement published on its official social media platform on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following an internal review of concerns that outstanding results could prevent some students from completing their programmes as scheduled.

According to the institution, the Department of English had uploaded all outstanding results as of Sunday.

“Following an enquiry by the University Management into the allegation concerning the non-upload of results of some graduating students in the Department of English, the University wishes to clarify that the Department has uploaded all outstanding results as of Sunday, 23 August 2026,” the statement said.

LASU explained that students who had satisfied all academic and administrative requirements for graduation would be cleared to graduate alongside other students from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The university also dismissed concerns that eligible students could be compelled to spend an additional academic year because of the issue.

“Any student whose result remains outstanding following this action has yet to fulfil the requirements for graduation and is advised to complete the necessary requirements accordingly,” the institution stated.

The clarification followed concerns raised on social media over reports that some final-year students in the Department of English were facing uncertainty over their graduation because of allegedly missing results.

Some of the affected students had expressed fears that the delay in uploading their results could disrupt their graduation plans and potentially force them to remain at the university for another academic year.

However, LASU said its management remained committed to ensuring that students who had met all graduation requirements were not unnecessarily delayed in completing their studies.
