Lamar Jackson Draws Strong Russell Wilson Praise After Ravens’ Wild Finish In Brazil

Lamar Jackson has built a long list of memorable moments in his NFL career. The Ravens quarterback added another Sunday, thousands of miles from Baltimore, in a game that came down to the final second.

The Ravens needed a win after splitting their first two games. Dallas had reached the final minutes with a chance to take control, but Baltimore found one last answer in Rio de Janeiro.

Lamar Jackson Earns Praise From Russell Wilson

Baltimore beat Dallas 34-31 Sunday in Rio de Janeiro when Tyler Loop made a 56-yard field goal as time expired. Jackson set up the kick after Dallas tied the score with seven seconds left, which gave the Ravens almost no time to work with.

Jackson did not need a long drive. He found Zay Flowers for a 27-yard completion to the Cowboys’ 38-yard line, then called a timeout with one second remaining. Loop then drilled the winning kick.

That sequence stood out to Russell Wilson, who praised Jackson’s poise and decision-making on NFL on CBS.

“What was really cool was watching Lamar, his experience. Lamar, this is what it takes to be not just an MVP but winning a Super Bowl for you is the decisiveness,” Wilson said.

Wilson’s point centered on how little margin for error Jackson had. The quarterback had seven seconds, needed a big play and still had to make sure Baltimore stopped the clock before the kick.

Lamar Jackson Made The Biggest Play When It Mattered

The final sequence showed why the outcome was never safe for either team. Baltimore had taken a 31-28 lead on a two-yard touchdown pass from Jackson to rookie tight end Matt Hibner with 1:30 remaining, but Dallas answered with a tying field goal. That left Jackson almost no room to operate.

Jackson finished 15-of-20 passing for 186 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 50 yards, while Flowers caught five passes for 84 yards.

Jackson said the game-winning play worked because everyone was on the same page.

“Everyone was on the same timing,” Jackson said after the game. “The line did a great job protecting, Zay ran a great route and I just had to deliver the baby.”

The Ravens moved to 2-1, while Dallas dropped to 1-2. The win also gave Jackson another late-game moment in a career that already includes two MVP seasons.

Wilson was not simply praising the throw. He was pointing to the quick decision that gave Baltimore a chance to win instead of settling for overtime. The seven-second sequence ended with Loop’s kick, but it began with Jackson trusting the play, finding Flowers and getting the Ravens into position.
