Lamar dominates second half to end Houston Christian's winning streak
BEAUMONT – Houston Christian’s bid for a third consecutive win was denied as Lamar rolled to a 35-10 win Saturday at Provost Umphrey Stadium.
Lamar (6-2, 4-1 Southland) scored the game’s final 21 points to pull away from HCU (4-4, 3-2).
Javon Bejarano’s 55-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the first half drew the Huskies within 14-10 at halftime.
But Lamar dominated after the break, getting a 6-yard TD run from Jojo Uga and a 41-yard scoring pass from Aiden McCown to Davin Driskell in the third quarter.
The Cardinals tacked on Cam Patterson’s 15-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
HCU stays on the road next week with a Saturday game at Stephen F. Austin.
