LaLiga: If you haven’t won title for two years, it’s your problem – Yamal to Real Madrid

Barcelona forward, Lamine Yamal, has said the controversial refereeing decisions during Real Madrid’s 1-0 La Liga defeat to Real Betis over the weekend are issues that belong to Los Blancos.

After securing three victories at the start of their new season, Jose Mourinho’s team faltered at the Estadio de La Cartuja, with Betis’ summer signing Troy Parrott netting the only goal of the match just nine minutes before the final whistle.

Following a late penalty attempt by striker Kylian Mbappe, which was saved by Betis goalkeeper Alvaro Valles, Mourinho claimed a defender had prematurely entered the box to clear the rebound, suggesting that the penalty should have been retaken.

The Portuguese manager also criticised the VAR officials for their lack of intervention.

Nevertheless, Yamal believes that Madrid’s two-year drought in La Liga titles and the refereeing controversies are their own concerns.

He said at a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League game on Wednesday, according to Fabricio Romano, “I don’t know. We’re very happy with the refereeing and everything so far. Those are questions you should ask them.

If Real Madrid have not won La Liga for two years, that is their problem.

Yamal has made an impressive start to the season, scoring four goals in as many La Liga matches for Hansi Flick’s champions, including a double in their 5-0 triumph over Valencia this past weekend.
