Kwara poly awards full scholarship and living stipend to special needs student

Driving Unified Advocacy for Campus Accessibility

Welcoming the swift resolution, the representative of the beneficiary and the Spinal Cord Injuries Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Mr Abdulazeez Muideen, described the financial package as a life-changing miracle that has completely lifted an overwhelming psychological and economic burden from the student’s family.

Taking advantage of the executive dialogue, Muideen presented a broader policy brief to the polytechnic management, advocating for structural retrofitting of campus infrastructure.

Key requests included the installation of wheelchair ramps on older lecture halls, improved bathroom layout accessibility, and the formal institutional approval of a registered student body association specifically tailored to advocate for learners with physical challenges.

Rector Abdul Jimoh Mohammed assured the delegation that the polytechnic’s directorate of works is already reviewing structural layouts to improve campus mobility, promising to sustain progress on targeted welfare initiatives to optimise the learning experience for every special-needs scholar on campus.
