Bayern Munich has won the Bundesliga 13 times out 14 since the historic 2012/13 season. Despite that kind of success in the domestic league, Bayern’s front office, as well its fans, know that the team should always strive for European glory, making winning the UEFA Champions League the ultimate goal every season.
Bayern fullback Konrad Laimer knows this, and as coach Vincent Kompany did recently, the Austrian expressed his desire for his team to have a good performance in the European stage this season (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): “When you’re at FC Bayern, you always want to win every single title. The Champions League is part of that, the domestic trophies are part of that. That’s what we train for every day. Personally, I’ll do everything in my power to achieve that.”
Bayern’s first test in the Champions League will be next week, more concretely on Tuesday, September 10th, when they face Norwegian side FK Bodø/Glimt in the Allianz Arena. After starting the season with a German Supercup win against Borussia Dortmund, and a 5-1 trashing of VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, Bayern will surely be hoping to have a great Champions League, after losing last year in the semifinals with eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.
