Polytechnic Confirms Suspensions Amid Appeals for Executive Action

Responding to the allegations, the Polytechnic Spokesman, Mr John Onimisi, confirmed that the institution’s management has taken direct disciplinary action against affected academic personnel.

Onimisi disclosed that seven lecturers were suspended on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Six were penalised for forcing unauthorised textbook and handout sales on students, while one lecturer was suspended specifically for sexual harassment.

“The disciplinary committee of the polytechnic is already investigating the allegations, and the outcome will be made available to journalists,” Onimisi stated, though he did not explicitly address the reports of nocturnal cult activity.

Meanwhile, student groups and parents have appealed to Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, to intervene directly, calling for an independent audit to restore academic integrity and safety across the institution.
