Kogi polytechnic suspends six lecturers over misconduct allegations

In addition to the allegations of sexual misconduct, concerns were raised over an alleged resurgence of cult activities within the institution.

Some sources claimed that secret meetings and initiation activities, previously curtailed by the institution, had resurfaced, raising fears about the safety of students and staff.

They also alleged that certain disciplinary measures previously introduced by the institution, including restrictions on the sale of handouts, dress code enforcement and mandatory use of student identity cards, are no longer being strictly enforced.

The sources further appealed to the Kogi State Government to strengthen oversight of the institution and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to address the reported challenges.

Responding to the allegations, Onimisi said the management is aware of several of the issues raised and confirmed that the institution’s disciplinary committee is investigating the complaints.

He assured that appropriate action would be taken where necessary and that the outcome of the investigations would be made public after the process is concluded.

The polytechnic maintained that it remains committed to upholding discipline, protecting students and preserving an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
