Knicks Fans Rip Spurs Jersey Off Visiting Supporter After Game 3 Win Sparks Chaos in New York [ VIDEO]

On June 8th, immediately following the victory of the San Antonio Spurs against the New York Knicks in game three of the NBA finals, an unprecedented spectacle unfolded where some fans from New York assaulted a Spurs’ supporter and stole his Victor Wembanyama jersey, which was all caught on camera by a passerby.

Of course, this wasn’t the only event to happen that night. There were also street fights, destruction of property, and police involvement, but not everyone managed to stay out of trouble, since over twenty people were arrested in Midtown because of their behavior during the game between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

Fans Of The Knicks React Aggressively After the Team Loses Game 3 of the Finals

According to videos from the incident after Game 3, a gang of the team’s fans gathered around a man wearing a Victor Wembanyama jersey, while others chanted, “Take it off!” Just a few moments later, they stripped the victim of his jersey and tore it apart to everyone’s amusement.

The Knicks jersey incident was not the problem that people talked about after the game. A lot of people had come to Manhattan for the Knicks NBA Finals home game in Manhattan since 1999. The Knicks were playing at Madison Square Garden. There was a big watch party at Bryant Park because they had to change some things outside the arena due to security for President Donald Trump who was at the game.

When the game ended and people went out into the streets things started to get bad. People shared videos online that showed fights on 42nd Street and near Bryant Park. You could see the Knicks fans punching each other in groups and other people climbing on cars and street lights. One person even took a bus stop sign. Started swinging it around after they pulled it out of the ground.

The police said that they took 21 people away during all the chaos. They said that 8 people were arrested for things like fighting, having a weapon, not listening to the police and hurting a police officer. 13 Other people got tickets for behaving. The police also said that 5 officers got hurt when they were trying to stop everything. The Knicks fans were really upset. It was a big mess.

As the crowds grew more unruly officers used pepper spray during confrontations. Riot gear units were seen moving through parts of Midtown as police worked to disperse groups that had gathered after the loss. The Knicks and the Spurs were. The Knicks lost.

The scenes were very different from the atmosphere in the city earlier in the day. The Knicks entered the night hoping to celebrate a commanding 3-0 Finals lead after winning the two games of the series. Instead Wembanyama’s 32-point performance helped the Spurs win. Cut New York’s advantage to 2-1. The Knicks game was a deal and the Knicks lost.

The Knicks still remain in control of the series heading into Game 4, however after Monday night’s ensured that much of the conversation extended well beyond basketball. From a viral jersey-ripping incident to street fights, property damage and dozens of police responses, the fallout from Game 3 became almost as memorable as the game itself.
