The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the release of the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade, who was abducted by gunmen over the weekend.

Police spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso disclosed that the 60-year-old educator regained his freedom following coordinated security efforts. He added that the victim has since been reunited with his family.

Owoade, popularly known as “Onaiye,” was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening while returning from his farm in the Budo Aare area of Itesiwaju Local Government Area. The abductors were said to have later contacted his family, demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.

His disappearance prompted a search by relatives and residents, during which his motorcycle was found abandoned in a nearby bush.

Confirming the latest development, the police said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with credible information.
