USC football‘s disappointing loss to Wisconsin once again exposed the struggles surrounding Lincoln Riley‘s team. While Riley remains confident in the Trojans’ ability to recover, many fans and former players have already become frustrated with the program’s performances. Former USC star Keyshawn Johnson has now called for Riley and the university’s leadership to make some difficult decisions.
In a video shared on X, Johnson began by expressing his disbelief over USC’s embarrassing defeat to Wisconsin.
“All I can do is sit here and look at myself and laugh, like we really, like we really just lost to Wisconsin,” Johnson said.

“I’m sorry, I’m laughing because it’s funny. I don’t know what to say. Like right now, we gotta be a joke. Not only a joke, a fu**** joke.”
The defeat dropped USC to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten play. With No. 3 Ohio State, Indiana and UCLA still awaiting them, Riley has limited opportunities to turn the team’s fortunes around and restore confidence in his leadership.
As a result, Johnson believes USC must make difficult decisions before the season slips further out of control.
“Tough decisions have got to be made, whether you want to or you don’t. They gotta be made. And right now, a tough decision for Jen Cohen, the administration, the boosters, the financial people, you name it, it’s gotta be made. Cause we still got Indiana, we still got Ohio State, and we still got UCLA on the schedule. Do the math. That’s all I’m gonna tell you.”
Reportedly, Riley entered the Wisconsin matchup with a 5-15 record against ranked opponents during his tenure at USC. The Trojans’ continued struggles in high-profile games have raised questions about whether the program is making enough progress under his leadership.

The latest loss was especially disappointing because Wisconsin entered the game unranked, while No. 16 USC came into the matchup following a victory over Penn State. Rather than using the game to build momentum ahead of a tough schedule, the Trojans suffered another setback that intensified concerns about their consistency.
