Replacing Robert Lewandowski has become one of Barcelona’s biggest priorities, and Hansi Flick appears to have made up his mind about who should lead the club’s attack in the years ahead.
While several names have been discussed internally, the German coach continues to believe that Julian Alvarez is the forward best suited to transform the Blaugrana’s frontline.
Notably, the Argentine remains the club’s first-choice target despite the complexities surrounding negotiations with Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona are prepared to remain patient, convinced that the striker’s qualities and his desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt make the pursuit worth continuing.
In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, Flick has no doubts about the 26-year-old and remains fully committed to bringing him to Camp Nou this summer.
Flick believes Alvarez offers far more than goals
Barcelona’s interest in the Argentina international is not based solely on his finishing ability, as Flick sees him as a complete centre-forward capable of changing the way his team attacks.

Unlike Lewandowski, whose game is built around penalty-box efficiency, Alvarez is valued for his movement across the frontline.
He can drop into midfield to combine with teammates, drift into wide areas to create overloads and press aggressively without the ball.
Those characteristics are viewed as a perfect fit for Flick’s tactical approach, with the Barcelona coach believing the Argentine would add greater unpredictability to the team’s attacking play while maintaining a consistent goal threat.
Within the club, there is a shared belief between Flick, Deco and Joan Laporta that Julian Alvarez is the right player to lead the next phase of Barcelona’s project.
Barcelona remain patient
Despite making their position clear, Barcelona are still waiting for Atletico Madrid to formally respond to their proposal.
The Catalan club believe the Madrid side is deliberately taking their time, hoping Barcelona will improve their offer before any serious negotiations begin.

Even so, the Blaugrana have no intention of walking away from the deal at this stage.
Club officials are also encouraged by the fact that Alvarez has made significant efforts to push for the move himself.
That willingness has strengthened Barcelona’s confidence that there is still a realistic path to completing one of the summer’s biggest transfers.
Right now, the plan is expected to become clearer once Argentina’s World Cup campaign comes to an end.
If Atletico have still not provided an official response by then, both Barcelona and the player are expected to reassess their strategy in an effort to move negotiations forward.
