The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered intensified operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, which killed 10 police officers and other civilians.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.
Recall that the IGP had on Tuesday deployed a delegation led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Umar Shehu-Nadada, to Kebbi State to engage the state government and other stakeholders on the security situation.
According to the statement, the delegation was also tasked with reinforcing ongoing efforts to prevent further attacks, protect vulnerable communities and improve security in the affected areas.
The delegation conveyed Disu’s concern over the deaths of the police officers and civilians and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to bringing those responsible to justice.
The statement said the IGP had directed that available operational and intelligence resources be deployed to identify, track and apprehend the perpetrators.
It added that the police delegation reiterated the Force’s commitment to supporting the families of the slain officers in line with its welfare policies.
The statement said the police would continue to work with the Kebbi State Government, other security agencies and local communities to strengthen security and protect lives and property in the state.
