LAWRENCE (KSNT) – How sweet it is for the Kansas Jayhawks.
No. 22 Kansas volleyball (2-3) swept in-state rivals Wichita State (25-9, 25-21, 25-14) in the Jayhawks’ home opener.
The Jayhawks were dominant in set 1, coming away with a 25-9.
After a back-and-forth 25-21 set 2 win, the Jayhawks put the game away, winning 25-14 in set 3.
Freshman star Taylor Stanley had a game-high 15 kills and added nine digs in the win.
Grace Nelson had nine kills and a team-high 14 digs. Reese Messer led the team with 36 assists. She also had three kills and five digs.
The Jayhawks stay at home as the Kansas Invitational kicks off on Friday.
Kansas will host South Dakota State. First serve set for 1 p.m.
