Jürgen Klopp “More than Recharged and Ready” to Take Germany Job

Julian Nagelsmann is officially out as manager of the German National Team and a wave of reports today have Jürgen Klopp having accepted the job after a few days of speculation that set out the former Liverpool boss as clear favourite to take over.

It’s been a rapidly developing story, and it’s one that Klopp has been asked about—and has answered openly—in his role as a World Cup pundit on German television.

“Julian has stepped down and they are working on a succession plan and have approached me,” a surprisingly forthright Klopp said in an appearance on Germany‘s Magenta TV on Friday. “About two years ago I stopped at Liverpool because I lacked the energy for another job or for another year with Liverpool.

“But since then I’m more than recharged and ready. I say that we now need to change things fundamentally in German football. Whether that’s me in the end or whoever it may end up being, that doesn’t change the fact that big changes are necessary.”

In the 24 hours since it appears Klopp has gone from approached to accepting, and whoever it may end up being now appears not to be in any doubt.

Klopp will take charge of the German National Team through at least the next World Cup co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. It’s a cycle which that also include Euro 2028, set to take place in the United Kingdom and Ireland with games set to be played in Liverpool (albeit at Everton‘s stadium).
