Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow lamented his one major mistake in their season-opening 33-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bengals got their campaign to return to the NFL Playoffs after two years away to a strong start with a win over the Buccaneers, despite the clash not highlighting the best in star QB Burrow.
Ahead of a season where everyone will be analysing the Bengals with a microscope to check if Burrow might be unhappy staying with the franchise, Burrow only seemed upset with himself after the opener.

Burrow threw an interception late in the third quarter, and it’s all he could think about while speaking to the media after the game.
“If I didn’t have that interception, I’m feeling great walking out of here. You can’t make plays like that, so I got to get that fixed. Offensive line was pretty lights out. I thought we ran the ball, ran the ball well in spots, and you know, I got the ball to my guys in space pretty quickly.”
Burrow had a solid game overall, going 25-for-35 on passing attempts for 254 yards. While he did have that one pick-six, he also threw a touchdown in the win.
There weren’t many negatives for Burrow to worry about, as the Bengals’ biggest concern from past seasons seemed clearly addressed in the opener.

Even though he seemed to have a critical outlook of the team’s first game of the season, Burrow will definitely be motivated after seeing the Bengals’ offensive line and defense lead them to this win.
The previously maligned offensive line shone, as Burrow was only sacked once all game. The lacklustre defense fans have complained about for years succeeded, forcing four turnovers in an efficient display.
All Burrow could criticise was his own mistake, but even he had a solid showing in the opener with a 76.4 QBR and an 89.5 passer rating.
Burrow will hope they can start the season 2-0 with a win over the Houston Texans on September 20, as the Bengals need all the wins they can get to stay competitive in their division.
