Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, like most fans of the team, seemed pretty largely unaware of the drama between LSU and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Speaking with reporters after his team’s preseason win over Detroit, Burrow said that LSU told him they “wouldn’t use” his No. 9 jersey again.
Burrow got asked about the college jersey number topic because a rep for Daniels sent a cease-and-desist letter to LSU informing the program that it can’t use his name, image or likeness.
This action led to a wildfire of speculation relating to LSU quarterback DJ Pickett intending to change his jersey number to No. 5, which Daniels wore while he was at the program.
The whole thing is a little funny, really. Burrow seems bemused at best about the topic and is generally viewed as having a bigger college impact than Daniels. We’ll see if the topic ever really hits the Cincinnati area, should an LSU player and the program use the No. 9 again.
