The Chargers held their final training camp practice Tuesday, officially closing the book on 20 practices. There was plenty to like throughout camp, but some areas left much to be desired.
Nonetheless, with training camp coming to an end, that means the regular season is near. The Chargers are a little over two weeks away from the start of the 2026 season, and Jim Harbaugh loves where his team stands.
“Mostly good, a lot of good,” Harbaugh said. “The goal has been to get our healthiest and best team to Week 1.
“The focus has been outstanding. No distractions,” Harbaugh added. “[Guys] have been just working and not worrying … and that’s been for the good.”
It’s been quite the whirlwind for the Chargers, from injuries to players making a name for themselves at camp. The injuries are, once again, not on the Bolts’ side. Earlier in camp, they had another Rashawn Slater injury scare, missing a handful of practices. Slater is projected to be fine before Week 1.
Tyler Biadasz stole headlines last week, and not in a good way. Biadasz will miss the entire 2026 season with a torn ACL.
The 28-year-old signed with the team this past offseason and was set to be the starting center. The Chargers will now rely on rookie Jake Slaughter, whom they selected in the second round in April’s draft.
While the injuries aren’t ideal, there has been a lot of good for Los Angeles. Rookies like Slaughter, Brennan Thompson and Akheem Mesidor have all stood out and shown they could play a pivotal role for the Chargers.
From the promise shown on both sides of the ball to the ongoing roster battles, the Chargers will soon have answers to many of their biggest questions. Before long, all eyes will turn to September 13 and the start of the regular season.
“It takes everybody and we need everybody,” Harbaugh said. “What’s good for the hive is good for the bee, and what’s good for the bee is good for the hive. That’s football, that’s building a team.”
