Bella Mir: Get to know UFC legend Frank Mir’s daughter

In every sport, there are sons and daughters of legends who rise through the ranks to make a name for themselves. In mixed martial arts, Bella Mir is hoping to be one of those athletes who can create their own legacy.

Bella Mir is the daughter of MMA legend and two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.

The 23-year-old Mir is set for her UFC tryout at Dana White’s Contender Series 89 on Tuesday, August 25, where she will look to impress UFC boss Dana White and earn a contract in the biggest promotion in the sport.

Mir enters DWCS 89 with a perfect 4-0 record, with three wins by submission and one by decision. Mir also excels at grappling and wrestling, and is hoping to carve out a legacy of her own in every area of combat sports. Let’s get to know more about “Lady” Mir, as she aims to land a UFC deal.

Bella Mir Creating Her Own Legacy

Mir grew up watching her father compete on the biggest stages of the sport, and she has followed in her footsteps. Since she began competing, there have been nothing but high expectations and a spotlight of their own. She is a wrestling phenom and won the NCAA championship at 145 pounds during her final year at North Central College earlier this year.

Now, she’s preparing for an opportunity to join the UFC before facing 2024 Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blades in one month for an opportunity to represent the United States at the World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan.

The pressure is on, but Mir is ready for it.

Along with her UFC and Olympic aspirations, Mir has her eyes set on winning the UFC Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championship and Zuffa Boxing title, and she has the mindset to do it.

Bella Mir Embracing ‘Why Not?’ Mentality

When speaking to MMAFighting.com ahead of her Dana White’s Contender Series debut, Mir explained why she has what it takes to excel in every discipline; she wants nothing more than to be the best.

“I just tell everyone, why not?” Mir said. “I feel like that’s my two words when going through adversity or anything that’s going on. Like why not me? If I’m already at a high level of wrestling and jiu-jitsu and about to be MMA right now, why not keep taking up steps until we’re the best in the world? I don’t want to just go for world titles. I want to go for a legacy. I want to be legendary. I want to shoot for the highest I can get. I just want to be in that talks of best athletes of all-time.

“I don’t even want to be the best MMA fighter, or the best combat athlete. I want to be the best athlete of all-time. I just want to hit the highest of goals that you can hit, and I just stay focused and I just always reminding myself of those dreams of mine.”

We’ll have to see if Mir is up for the challenge when she faces Alex Apodaca in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series 89 on Tuesday night. The event is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+.
